Demo-Crazy
By Varghese Kuncheria 

Democracy has become Demo Crazy,
A demonstration of craziness-
For power, money and what not!
Serving the selfish self than of others.

Look around to see the endless list,
Of corrupt leaders in every nation,
Corrupt ethically, morally or materially,
Is it all a gimmick now, a way of life?

Gone are the days of Gandhi and Lincoln,
The stalwarts of true democracy,
Sacrificial lives they lived to uphold,
Equality, liberty and fraternity.

It is high time the world embraces,
A flawless system, truly democratic,
Where genuine freedom and values prevail.
And all humans live a life dignified.

I'm blessed to be born free; it's my right-
To dwell in unity, free from malice,
Free from nepotism and terror,
Upholding true democratic values.

Let a new dawn of democracy arise,
As lotus from dark murky waters,
With the rising of the morning sun,
As a beacon of light to the world!
