"Moments of Lightness" is an Anthology of Tanka published at Amazon with my following Tankas:

               Tanka
By Joji Varghese Kuncheria

1.

where's the sun?
I sit by the lilies pond
In lotus posture
to see it emerge blooming
from murky waters

{lilies ('yuri') is a kigo for late Summer}

           ~*~

2.

heavy summer storm
has brought a sharp hail shower:
my car windshield crashed
so violent was the hit -
total havoc in and out

           ~*~

3.

the sea gulls
move in ranks in the sky:
with no cheerleader
they squawk like a battalion
in a disciplined array

           ~*~

4.

last night
a piercing scream woke me up:
my sweet spouse
was frenzy and tipsy
thus spoiling my sound sleep

          ~*~

5.

a new dawn breaks forth
brightening up in the east - as
darkness is dispelled
and my worries washed away
life springs up afresh

          ~*~
